The average lifespan of a standard car battery is between three to five years, but they are not limited to this length of time. Modern cars fitted with eco stop and start systems and smart charging systems use AGM or EFB batteries and their life span is slightly lower than that of a conventional battery. An Absorbent Glass Matt (AGM) battery can recover faster and remains completely sealed whilst an Enhanced Flushed Battery (EFB) has greater charge acceptance for ECU controlled charge systems.
Some of the most common causes of a parasitic drain include boot, glove compartment, and other lights that are on due to some type of malfunction. These and other interior lights are designed to shut off automatically, and if they fail to do so, they are capable of draining a battery overnight.
Our Technicians can supply and fit a new car battery or diagnose the fault and in most cases carry out the repair at the same time.
